What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a clear aligner system designed to straighten teeth using a series of custom-made, removable aligners. These invisible trays gradually shift your teeth into their desired position using gentle pressure.
Each set of clear aligners is created using advanced technology based on a precise scan of your teeth. They are made from a smooth, proprietary material that supports predictable tooth movements and optimal patient comfort.
Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign aligners are removable and blend in with your natural smile, making them a discreet alternative for orthodontic treatment.
Benefits of Invisalign
Invisalign offers several advantages for patients looking for a comfortable and flexible orthodontic solution.
- Clear to provide a discreet appearance
- Removable aligners allow for easier eating and cleaning
- Smooth material supports comfort along the gum line
- No wires or brackets to adjust
- Predictable results through advanced treatment planning
Patients appreciate the convenience and the ability to maintain their daily routines with minimal disruption.
What Are the Benefits to Your Oral Health?
Straightening your teeth can improve more than the appearance of your smile. Proper alignment supports overall oral health and helps reduce the risk of dental problems. Benefits for oral health can include easier cleaning between teeth, reduced risk of tooth decay, improved gum health, and better bite alignment.
Invisalign vs. Traditional Metal Braces
Choosing the right orthodontic treatment depends on your goals, preferences, and the complexity of your case.
Invisalign
- Nearly invisible trays
- Removable for meals and oral hygiene
- No dietary restrictions
- Designed for comfort
Traditional Metal Braces
- Fixed brackets and wires
- Regular adjustments required
- Some food restrictions
- More noticeable appearance
Invisalign is a great option for patients seeking a discreet and flexible alternative to conventional edgewise braces.
What to Expect During the Invisalign Treatment Process
The full process is carefully planned to provide predictable results and a smooth experience from start to finish.
Smile Evaluation
Your journey begins with a consultation at our dental office. During this visit, we evaluate your teeth, discuss your goals, and determine if Invisalign is the right solution for you.
A digital scan of your current smile is taken to create a customized treatment plan. We may take digital X-rays as well, though this is generally not needed. This information is sent to the Invisalign team for their review as well.
Customized Treatment Plan and Sneak Peek
Once the Invisalign team reviews your information, they will give you a “case” type. The straightening process will take more or less time, depending on your case type.
Express 5 cases only require two months of treatment. Express 10 requires five months, and a “Full” case will take a year. After we have confirmed all of your details, we will begin preparing for your treatment.
Using advanced technology from Align Technology, our dentists map out the progress of your new smile. This includes a preview that shows how your teeth will move over time.
Your customized plan outlines:
- The number of aligners you will need
- Expected treatment times
- The desired position of your teeth
This level of planning allows for predictable results and a clear understanding of your treatment.
Wearing Your Aligners
You will receive your first set of aligners and begin wearing them as directed based on your “case” type. Each new set of aligners gradually moves your teeth closer to their final position.
For best results, aligners should be worn for the recommended wear time each day. You will switch to a new set as your treatment progresses.
Regular check-ins at our dental office allow us to monitor the progress of your new smile and make any necessary adjustments.
Caring for Your Aligners
Taking care of your aligners helps ensure successful, comfortable treatment and protects your oral health. Simple care tips include:
- Rinse aligners regularly
- Brush your teeth before reinserting aligners
- Clean aligners gently to maintain clarity
- Store aligners properly when not in use
Completing Your Smile Journey
Once your treatment is complete, your teeth will be in their final position. Retainers may be recommended to help maintain your results and keep your smile looking its best.
Our team will guide you through the final steps and provide instructions for long-term care.
Personalized Care for Your Experience
At Coyne Dentistry, we focus on providing care that fits your unique needs. Our dental team takes time to explain each step of the process and answer your questions so you feel confident in your care.
We understand that every patient’s goals are different. Your Invisalign treatment is designed around your specific needs to help you achieve a straighter, more confident smile.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Invisalign?
Invisalign is suitable for many patients with mild to moderate orthodontic concerns. A consultation helps determine if this treatment aligns with your needs.
You may be a good candidate if you have:
- Minor misalignment
- Gaps between teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Bite issues
Patients who maintain good oral hygiene and follow aligner guidelines often achieve excellent results.
Understanding the Cost of Invisalign
The cost of Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of your case and the number of aligners required. During your consultation, we provide a clear estimate based on your personalized treatment plan.
Our team can also discuss payment options, including monthly payment plans, to help make treatment more manageable.
